Service

The Process

Cutlass Velo is dedicated to providing the absolute best service to the road, gravel, and cyclocross community. We continue to develop and refine our procedures and techniques to produce an extraordinary experience.

Starting the Process

Our policy is clear: setting you up for success.
That’s why new clients and/or new bikes coming to Cutlass Velo are required to go through our comprehensive mechanical evaluation. Attending isn’t required but it is encouraged in order to have a clear dialogue regarding your equipment. You can book your bike’s evaluation here.

Mechanical Evaluation

During the mechanical evaluation we go over every aspect of your equipment. From bar tape to tires, we document the condition of componentry; record your fit numbers; record the componentry for future reference; and write out detailed service and product recommendations.

What’s next?

After the evaluation we create two estimates; the first is an as-needed repair order for anything pertaining to safety and proper function. The second is an estimate for a complete reset of your equipment. The reset is akin to an overhaul while creating a level of function and performance at Cutlass Velo’s standard.

“What if I don’t want to do the evaluation?”
Cutlass isn’t an ordinary shop; we want to provide an extraordinary experience for you. While it is uncommon to refuse this service, we stand by our policy and our process. It has been developed to provide an unparalleled experience.

“What if I want a second opinion?”
While it is rare- you are not forced into having repairs completed by Cutlass Velo. Once the evaluation has been completed, you will be given a copy of the notes and estimates for your records. You can provide these to any shop for a second opinion.

“What support do you offer after my bicycle is picked up?”
Cutlass Velo offers a thirty (30) day grace period on our service. We perform a rigorous a test ride on each repair. If after pick up an adjustment is needed, please reach out so we can accomodate you. Adjustments can typically be done while you wait.

”Do you accept walk-ins?”
Walk-in service (including flat repairs) is currently not available due to commitments owed to current scheduled client queue. If the need for walk-in service is due to an unsafe mechanical, we may be able to assist at our discretion. We reserve the right to request leaving the bike for further assessment.

“Will you work on my e-bike/cargo bike/mountain bike?”
Simply put, no. Baltimore City and County have some great locally owned options for getting these bikes serviced by qualified staff. Cutlass Velo is dedicated to serving the needs of road/cyclocross/gravel/adventure athletes.
