Hi! I’m Tommy Barse, owner of Cutlass Velo. Building on 18 years of industry experience, I have amassed a variety of skillsets in technical service, communication, and collaboration. I’ve been described as a bloodhound for trouble with the ability to sniff out and resolve even the most complex mechanical issues.

Behind the name cutlass

January 6th, 2012 was an abnormally warm day. I was making my last delivery of SDAT filings to my client in Camden Yards. Two blocks from my starting point I was right-hooked by a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Before I knew it I was looking at the undercarriage of the car - stuck for a few moments with thoughts of my demise. In a moment of panic the driver accelerated; dragging me for several feet and crushing my head and helmet into the ground with the rear differential. I spent four days in University of Maryland Shock Trauma unit for assessment. My list of injuries include 6 fractured vertebrae, fractured sternum, collapsed/punctured lung, fractured ribs, and various other tears, road rash/bruising. In my physical and emotional recovery I knew that I wanted to fortify my passion and skillset within the industry and take ownership of this horrible experience. And that’s when Cutlass Velo was born.
